Survival Camp
You are on a bus tour driving along a mountain road . . . the tire blows out and causes the bus to slide off the road into the trees . . . the bus lands on its side . . . people are hurt . . . it’s up to you to save the group! How will you survive until a rescue party finds you? What should you bring along with you on such a trip? Do you know basic first aid to treat the injured? Do you know how to use a compass
to find your way? Can you make a shelter? How about building a fire? What could you find to eat? Where is water found and how do you make it safe to drink? Come to survival camp and you will learn all of these skills! Participants will experience a wide variety of survival techniques. Be a good survivor by dressing for the weather: wear sunscreen and long pants, and bring a snack and plastic bottle of water. There is an optional overnight on Thursday. You will spend the evening inside the Nature Center in your sleeping bag. There will be a night hike and campfire. Friday morning you will enjoy a pancake breakfast. To register for this part of the program you must have taken the Survival Camp and pay an extra fee.
Nature Explorers Camp
Explore a bit of everything that Pilcher Park has to offer. We will go in the creek, learn how to geo- cache, do some survival training, meet our reptiles and amphibians, find out what’s in the pond and learn how to identify skin, skulls and scat.
