In Loving Memory-Mrs. Doris Ann Moore
Celebrating a Life Well Lived
We gather in remembrance, celebrating a cherished life that touched the hearts of many. Today, we pay tribute to a beloved individual whose journey through life embodied kindness, integrity, and a steadfast devotion to family, friends, and community. Doris will forever represent the epitome of a lady with class, so it is not a surprise that many knew her as a “DIVA”. As a “DIVA” she led with humility and the grace of a queen. Yes, the stars aligned when she was born......
Early Life and Family Roots
Doris was born March 28, 1960, to Henry Bell, Jr., and Annie Mae Bell, in Shreveport, Louisiana. In the early years of her life, she resided with her siblings in the Cooper Road area. She attended Northside Elementary School, Linear Middle School and Green Oaks High School. During her years of matriculation at Green Oaks High School she participated in the Mighty Green Oaks marching band, playing the clarinet. She was a member of the National Honor Society, editor of the Green Oaks Express Newsletter, FBLA, and involved with many organizations on campus! She graduated from Green Oaks High School with the Class of 1978. Armed with the fortitude of her village, the next journey would begin......
Education and the Pursuit of Dreams
Doris was never limited by visible or invisible boundaries or obstacles. Upon graduating from high school, she attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She answered the call of duty by joining the United States Air Force where she completed 3 years and 11 months of service as a Sergeant. She achieved a Bachelor of Science, in Business Administration, from the University of Phoenix and Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Park College. But this wasn’t enough. Doris believed as stated by the author Langston Hughes, “What happens to a dream deferred?”, Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?” so the pursuit continued.......
A Life of Purpose and Achievement
Doris accomplished many things, but one dream that she thought was out of her reach was to become a teacher. After working for years at CHFA and Principal Support Engineer at Oracle in Denver, Colorado, she answered, yet another calling on her life. She relocated to Dallas and completed the Dallas Alternative Teacher’s Certification Program to achieve her EC-6 Certification, passing the exam on the first attempt! She worked as a Substitute Teacher in Lancaster, TX before taking permanent teacher assignments at ILT and Pleasant Run Elementary, in Lancaster ISD.
She absolutely loved her students and her colleagues spoke of her calming presence that would shift the atmosphere, but that wasn’t the only love that would shift the atmosphere......
