MINISTRY OF THE QUARTER
“SOCIAL JUSTICE”
In 2020, Deacon Ray Holmon, Social Justice Ministry Director, introduced the implementation of the program, which was designed primarily to focus on increasing voting registration and helping to reduce voting barriers. A committee was formed to assist with the work to be done.
Other initiatives that the ministry strives to achieve are to promote reform and accountability when there are egregious occurrences; serve as the catalyst of information for the common good of God’s people to enhance their quality of life; be active in informing and educating members on social issues such as housing, financial literacy, voting rights, health, and prison reform; strive to restore the dignity lost when justice is denied; and equip the congregation with life-altering and decision-making skills to enhance their spiritual, mental, and physical well-being.
In this current political environment, programs that help educate the public about their voting rights and how they can improve their quality of life through voting are needed more than ever. Our PHBC family supports the Social Justice Ministry in their efforts to achieve their goals for all of our citizens.
