NATIONAL PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Greetings My Sisters,
As I read your compelling stories, they conjured up echoes from our collective
past. We are an African people who have persevered, so as I read your
amazing stories, I heard Maya Angelou proclaim that we are “the hope and
the dream of the slave.” As I read your uplifting stories, I rejoiced that you, my
sisters, are contributing to the community and indeed “livin’ the dream!”
Your stories – authentically and generously shared – forged the connections that keep our kinship
strong.
Because the future is a world of promises, the stories you shared about your children, grandchildren,
Carrafellas, families and friends proved that all things are possible!
Because the world is our playground, your stories showcased your celebrations, graduations, and
fun-filled Carrousels meetings – and the love you shared through these stories is evidence of brighter
tomorrows!
Because you are citizens of God’s universe, your stories of travel are evidence that we have touched
every continent and touched every shore. You splashed in the clear blue oceans of the Caribbean and
Mexico and trekked through Canada. You’ve cruised the Mediterranean and explored the landmarks
of Europe and Asia. You’ve traversed the Holy Land and planted bare feet on African soil as you visited
the Motherland.
Carrousel sisters, we appreciate you sharing and allowing us to live vicariously through the vibrant
images as you told your stories filled with love, laughter, and adventure.
An accomplished group we are – so it’s no surprise that there were stories about your accolades,
awards, and honors. My sisters . . .this is only the beginning.
As we move past the pandemic, a time that was filled with fear and uncertainty, we’ve once again
become adventurers – focused on the future, filled with hope and love, and filled with the desire and
ability to enjoy the magnificence, beauty, and wonder of the world.
Your stories reminded us and inspired us to imagine the possibilities!
I am so honored to be your Carrousel President and Carrousel Sister at such a time as this.
