Gaslighting:
When the narcissist is caught in the act and refuses to admit they are wrong, and they go into denial projecting onto the victim that they are paranoid, crazy and imagining the whole thing. It stemmed from the 1938 movie known as “Gaslight”. This puts into question the victims perception of reality.
Narcissistic Personality Disorder Terminology
Generational Curse:
Personality disorders passed down from one generation to the next.
Ghosting:
Absence from a relationship for hours or days at a time with no explanation or forewarning.
Golden Child:
A reference to a child that can do no wrong in the eyes of the parent. Idealized as perfect and special. Removed from responsibility and reckoning from any untoward actions.
Gray Rock:
Gray rock is a strategy used by the victim so as not to sustain a volatile situation or be provoked into an argument. This is how they avoid giving the narcissist what they are seeking. When one displays no emotion or appears unaffected by the ploys of a narcissist. This can help cause the narcissist to lose interest in them as a supply and free the victim.
Guilt Versus Shame:
These words are often confused and so I have combined them to show the difference.

When one feels guilty they are having an attack of conscience from doing wrong, however when one feels shame, it can be induced by humiliation and not necessarily wrong doing. Shaming is also a technique used by a narcissist to discredit the victim. If they behave that a normal feeling or expectation is preposterous it shines a light of humiliation and devalues the victim in the presence of others and can be very effective around people who are not self reflective and have not developed critical thinking skills.
