Organization objectives
Promote communities we serve by helping banks provide access to credit,
transfer funds and build economic growth and stability.
Seek economic opportunities for Coloradans to prosper via an efficient, effective,
sound and competitively fair banking environment free from excessive
government supervision of banks and affiliates where banks of every size and
kind can compete and thrive.
Advocate for banks by working, collaboratively where possible, with state and
federal legislative, judicial and regulatory bodies.
Enhance customers’ financial skills and the support banking provides to
customers and communities and improve public understanding of banking’s
value to the public and ethical professional conduct and community involvement.
Enlighten select audiences and the public with timely meaningful information.
Enhance members’ skills with information, education and training, services and
resources in legal, regulatory, operational and other matters.
Maintain the necessary human, financial, and physical resources and
organizational structure.
Public policy considerations
• Do bank customers and the public benefit from the proposal?
• Does the proposal enhance the broad competitive environment?
– Does the proposal achieve or maintain equal competitive ground rules
among the various types of competing financial institutions?
– Does the proposal provide the opportunity for competitive financial
viability and profitability regardless of bank size?
• If the proposal is not pro-competitive, is it otherwise demonstrably necessary
to achieve a healthy business climate or safe and solvent financial
institutions?
• Does the proposal promote individual responsibility and freedom?
• Does the proposal reduce or limit government regulation or scope?
