A NOTE FROM

Our Leaders

The November strategic value is integrity, but what
does it mean to have integrity? At the City of Post
Falls, integrity is the foundation for everything we
do. We are respected for our commitment to
trustworthy and ethical behavior. We do the right
thing and keep our word, even when no one is
watching. In a time when government is often viewed
through a cloud of doubt and skepticism, how do we
prove our integrity? How do we show others that we
do the right thing even when no one else is watching,
if no one is watching? As an avid Harry Potter fan, I’ll
relate this to the 3 Ds of successful apparition:
Destination, Determination and Deliberation.

Destination- It is our goal to achieve a reputation of
high integrity. So how do we get there? A great place
to start is keeping our word, for we are only as good
as our word. It is our responsibility to consistently
do what we say and say what we do. To do what we
say is to follow-through. It’s one thing to say you’ll
do something, it’s quite another to actually do it. To
say what we do, is to be transparent about what we
do and how we do it. A pattern of follow-through,
and transparency, shows that we are as good as our
word.
Determination- Now that we’ve established our integrity, we must maintain it. We must be determined to do the
right thing in everything we do. Through working hard, respecting others, following policies, acknowledging
mistakes, and being good role models, we show we are trustworthy. Inevitably there are going to be times when it
seems easier to take a short cut. These are the times it is most important for us to show resolve and take the
higher road.

Deliberation- We are deliberate with ethical behavior. It takes time and effort to establish a reputation of
integrity, it takes just one bad moment to throw it all off course. One act of dishonesty, one attempt to cut a
corner, one time making a promise beyond our limits and the respect we’ve gained is lost. Once trust is lost, it is
near impossible to regain.

The citizens of Post Falls deserve a government with stand-out integrity. Their respect is worth our commitment
to doing what is right, always.
