Be Aware of the Web Browser Update Scam
Be cautious if you receive any online pop-up urging you to update your browser or any software.
It is likely an update scam. These scams often include a link to update your browser, which tricks
you into downloading malware. Some examples of the message are below:
Most browser updates are done automatically by the City of Post Falls IT staff. If you
get any messages to update your internet browser, the safest option is to close the
pop-up window and put in a help desk request. You may do so here. If you want to
continue working, you may check the status of your web browser by following the
instructions linked below. Remember, you should never use a link from a browser pop-
up to update your browser. Instead, close any window with a potentially malicious pop-
up and follow these steps to check the status of, or update your browser:
