 Moving Forward, Transitioning Business Operations,
and
Refocusing
on DEI

“When patterns are broken, new worlds emerge.” ~Tuli Kupferberg
Although this crisis has not been easy and many of our members and communities have fallen on hard times, it has brought about new ways of doing business and a new global viewpoint that we really are all in this together.
Cornerstone is also finding new ways to support you and your credit union. For instance, this digital-only version of Perspectives. As many credit union employees are still working from home, we felt like a digital edition of our magazine would best serve our readers.
In this issue, we highlight tools and ideas to consider during this transition, including articles by our staff experts on medium- and long-term considerations for IT, how remote auditing is becoming the norm, ways the Foundation
serves credit unions during these uncertain times, and why our compensation survey is a vital tool for compensation decision-making.
Industry experts also offer their thoughts on “standing in your purpose” and values to heal communities, shape the future, and help your employees love the jobs they’re in. Additionally, our business partner, Origence, provides tips on how you can set your credit union apart in the mortgage lending business.
As we go back to our offices and branches, we are all evaluating what members need from us, and although it might be tempting to put aside diversity, equity, and
inclusion efforts with the idea that we’ll return to this work when the crisis improves, now is the time to fully embrace DEI. Because this crisis has impacted various groups differently with economic and health disparities, these efforts are especially important.
Additionally, we’re highlighting different aspects of DEI
with articles from our business partners. OneDigital takes
on gender sensitivity and inclusion in the workplace; CUNA Mutual Group provides thoughts on the secret ingredient of inclusion; and Ser Tech gives insights on how to become part of the community to serve Hispanics.
As we continue moving forward and opening our doors, please know that Cornerstone is here to provide best-in-class service to you and your credit union. We are committed to addressing your unique challenges and expectations to foster your success.
I hope you enjoy this edition of the magazine. I welcome any feedback or suggestions for future issues.
Best regards,
Caroline Willard
