E Mitchell: After growing up in an Air Force family, Eric became an air navigator
himself and served on 407 and 404 squadrons flying on the Aurora maritime patrol
aircraft. He left the service after ten years to work as a consultant on human
engineering studies for several years. Most of his early work was pen-and-ink or
acrylic, but he has lately been painting in watercolour, and although aircraft still
interest him very much, he has been increasingly interested in painting landscapes
and coastal scenes near his home on southern Vancouver Island.
