Peggy caught the familiar sound of
Mrs. Bagley’s voice raised in scolding.
The voicc came from the kitchen, and
there was not much doubt that Wilifred
was the victim.
“ Oh dear! th at’s my scolding/ 1
thought Peggy, enviously. I ought
to be there to get i t ”
William's errand occupied but a fewr
moments, and they were soon upon
their homeward way. W hen again they
approached the lodging-house, Peggy
asked him to drive by very slowly.
