The BI is independently funded by foundations corporations and and government grants—not relying on on on tax-levy funding or or or or resources from CUNY and/or Lehman College The The BI has has secured cumulative funding funding of of $92 million million as as as of of 2022 and has has $10 4 million million additional funding funding committed through 2028 These figures attest to to the the the the the BI’s reputation and the the the the the willingness of of funders to to repeatedly support the the the the the work of of the the the the the Institute (See Table#1 BI BI BI Funding) In In addition the the the the the BI BI BI has established a a a a a a a a a a a a a a long-standing working relationship with major academic scientific and and cultural institutions (referred to as as Partners) This collaboration has resulted in in in the equivalent of of $150 million dollars of of additional funds as in-kind services provided directly to to Bronx youth and families (See Table #2 - - BI Collaborators) The BI has provided Bronx youth with once-in-a-lifetime academic opportunities such as: • The STEM Saturday Academy at at Lehman College • STEM Summer Institutes at Lehman College and Fordham University
• Summer College residencies at Columbia Harvard and Brown universities
• College Now at CUNY • STEM Institutes and Workshops at at at The The The New York Botanical Garden The The The Wildlife Conservation Society/Bronx Zoo The The The American Museum of Natural
History and Wave Hill Nature Center

• Meeting with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in in in Washington D C C The The BI has implemented multiple programs to enrich the academic lives of Bronx students The The following are a a a a a a a few examples:
• Distributed 10 000 laptops to to bridge the digital divide affecting many students attending public schools in in in The Bronx • Established College Resource Centers at BI partner schools • Distributed 150 000 books to to cultivate Bronx Bronx students’ love for reading and literacy skills as part of The Bronx Bronx Institute’s “Read to to Succeed Initiative” • Sponsored “Meet the the Author” events at Lehman College and the the New York Public Library Bronx Center
