Prohibited Practices (Seclusion)

• Timeout in a locked room – note: the door must be
able to be opened from the inside.
• Isolation of the student as a form of punishment
• Failure to provide continuous visual and auditory
monitoring of the student
• Use of timeout for an extended or repeated duration
that prevents the student from accessing classroom
instruction with their peers.
