• Monitored separation of a student in a non-locked setting for the purpose
of de-escalating, regaining control and preparing the student to meet
expectations ONLY in a situation that poses an immediate concern for the
physical safety of the student or others and when other less intrusive
interventions would not prevent imminent harm to the student or others.
• The setting must be free of objects that could prevent harm to the student.
• Wall and floor coverings must be designed to prevent injury to the student.
• Parent must be immediately notified and given written description within 3
days.
