“I
don’t even have the words
to describe how great the Holiday
Train Show is. It’s phenomenal, brilliant,
and breathtaking. The architecture is fascinating and the exhibit itself feels magical. What makes it the most special, though, is being here and spending time together with our families. The GEAR UP program has really helped my daughter with her leadership skills. It’s a great program for children and families to be together and learn as a family, whether that’s helping kids with leadership skills
or the multiple programs they offer through Lehman College.”

“I’m
very grateful that my
family and I have gotten the
opportunity to go to the Holiday Train
Show. I think it’s great that the GEAR UP program encourages children to start thinking about college from the minute they get into high school. Usually, students get so caught up in Regents that they don’t think about what comes next. The bank presentation was also very informative on preparing for college financially and the importance of opening a savings account.”
“I think the Holiday Train
Show is beautiful. I love that they
have iconic places that I actually know in the
show, like the Rockerfeller Center with the Christmas tree lighting, or Van Cortland, which is right
in my backyard! The bank’s workshop presentation was educational. As a young person, I want to spend money on things I want, not things that I need, so it was an eye opener for me. The GEAR UP program has really helped me learn more and figure out what I want to do in life. For example, this summer, I studied cell biology and cancer. Even though I decided I didn’t want to go down that path, it was still fascinating to learn about things that I know of like leukemia.”

“The
train show is a great way
to put yourself in a happy mindset,
have fun and take lots of pictures. The
bank workshop was also nice. It had a lot of information for people who don’t really know it. The GEAR UP program is fantastic. It helps a lot of kids get up to speed. It’s also a place to go and meet new friends, which is always a good thing. I still have to figure out where I want to go and what I want to do for college, but the GEAR UP program is pushing me more towards doing that. Once people come, they don’t want to leave.”

“I
thought the bank
workshop we attended had information that was good for people to know about. It’s important to know about
the best ways to save. Too many people spend 100 or 200 dollars on sneakers and such instead of saving for what’s really important. The train show is beautiful! It’s really creative, and it looks like it took a lot of work to create. You wish you could have this at home!”
