Dear GEAR UP students and families I hope you all all had a a a a a a a a productive fall semester and a a a a a a a a restful holiday season Seventh grade is one of the most important school school years High school school may still be a a a a a few semesters away but it’s important to start getting ready and maintain good grades through the next school year Those of of you you in in eighth grade are now now in in the the middle of of the the application process By now now you’ve applied to your final list of of schools and many of of you you have started attending open houses Now all that’s left is is to to to finish up
eighth grade grade The transition to to to ninth grade grade is is is exciting and the best way to to to prepare for it it it is is is to end middle school on a a a a high
note by succeeding academically The same goes for those of you you in in seventh grade Though high
school may be far from your mind it’s still important to to maintain solid grades and and attendance and and start developing those study habits to to set yourself up

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a a a nationwide effort funded by the United States Department of of Education on on behalf of of students from low income communities to support them from sixth grade through high
