UNDY GAFFER CALLS ON SIDE TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST PONTYPRIDD AND UPSET THE APPLECART
Undy AFC Director of Football Mark Crook is looking for his side to bounce back and take a surprise win when they take on out of form Pontypridd Town at the Causeway this afternoon.
The gaffer says today’s game will be a “tough” one, against a side who sit second in the Cymru South – but playing at home, he says they will be looking to upset the apple cart. Today’s visitors are winless in their last four games, whereas Undy have won two out of the last four.
Speaking ahead of kick-off, Mark says: “Our result against Risca was obviously disappointing and the performance wasn’t our best either. But today’s match is a fresh start and being at home, whoever we are up against, we always look to start on the front foot and attack the opposition.
Pontypridd are obviously a very good side and they’re in and around the promotion places for a reason. We know it’s going to be a tough 90 minutes, but I’m always positive.
Based on both teams’ most recent results, we go into this game in better form – so we should definitely be optimistic. I know how committed the lads are to this club, so I have no doubt they will put in a good shift.”
With Undy now five points adrift of Cwmbran and six behind Risca, Mark says picking up points in every game will be crucial in avoiding the drop this season.
He adds: “Every game between now and the end of the season, we will need to take something from it. At times I think we’ve been very unlucky in games and we’ve had nothing to show for it. Because of our position in the table, we now cannot allow that to happen anymore.”
