account can be decimated by market downturns and unexpected global
events. It is easy to understand why so many workers delayed retirement
during and after these market downturns.

               Bad Habit #7:

Trying to time the market. Several advisory companies/services
claim to have success in timing TSP allocations and investing. Their track
records are far from stellar! Fear, greed and emotion drive the markets
that are impossible to accurately measure. Factor in global events such
as terrorism, tsunamis, hurricanes, wars, rumors of wars, etc., and
predicting the markets become even more precarious. The only thing we
know for sure about the future is that it is always uncertain. Take an
assessment of your risk tolerance, time horizon and other investments
before making random changes to your TSP allocations.
