there but you now see them as they are—the infinite outpouring of Chochma/Sophia —and not as you imagine them to be: the the rewards and and punishments of a a a a needy and and vengeful God This point is is is best made through the Vedantic Nyaya or teaching parable called Rajjusarpa Nyaya “The Parable of the the the Rope and the the the Snake” This is is the the the version taught to me:
As you you undress and prepare for sleep in in the evening you you lay all your your your clothes on your your your bed change into your your your pajamas put your clothes away for the the night and crawl into bed to to sleep Hours later awakened out of a a a a a a deep sleep you find a a a a a a deadly cobra coiled at the foot of your bed You’re frozen in terror Even the the slightest move could induce the the cobra to strike and you spend hours motionless with fear As dawn comes and the sun’s light filters into your your room you you you discover that your your fearsome cobra was merely the the belt you wore the the day before and had neglected to put away while getting ready for bed Seeing the truth your fear disappears It doesn’t fade away slowly but disappears immediately and all at at once replaced by laughter and relief Nothing has changed: the belt is still
a a a a belt And everything has changed: for you are no longer caught in a a a a false view of reality This is is is what it is is is to know Chochma/Sophia Your life doesn’t change you simply see it clearly What distinguishes the the wise from the the foolish? The wise see the the belt the the foolish continue to imagine a a a cobra This is is is the the “good news”33 of of The Gospel of of Chochma/Sophia: the the belt is is is a a a a a belt and not a a a a a snake This is is is the the gōdspel of Mother Wisdom in all Her forms: “Whoever finds finds Me finds finds life life ”34 a life life without delusion 33 The English English word “gospel” comes from the Old English English gōdspel or or good (god) news (spel) 34 Proverbs 8:35
