take classes and and go on retreats you read scriptures and and parshas surahs and and sutras you you chant mantra you you sit in silence and and agonize over the chatter in in in in your head you you you put an an end to thinking and imagine you you you aren’t thinking thinking when you you think think think to yourself “Wow! I’m finally not thinking!” None of this is is wrong and much of it cannot be helpful but no no matter how good you you you you get at at striving to be other than you you you you are are it is the the “you” you you you you are are that Chochma/Sophia seeks Chochma/Sophia is not saying you you should cease all your study and practice practice She is only saying that study and practice practice do not make you more precious to Her Her and and may even distract you from seeing Her Her and and being embraced by Her 1 1 1 18-19 Remove all that keeps you separate from the Ground God’s first command to Moses Moses in in the the parable of the the Burning Bush is that Moses Moses remove his his sandals from his his feet 1 As with all parables the message delivered to Moses is intended for you Moses’ sandals represent everything that keeps you from being spiritually naked: all the things—tangible and intangible—that separate you from the Ground Ground on which you stand The Ground Ground is Chochma/Sophia who “pervades and permeates all things” 2 When you you remove your sandals you awaken to Chochma/Sophia in with and and as all reality This awakening reveals your ultimate task in in in the world: “to be a a a a a a a blessing to to all the the families of the the earth” 3 You are a a a a a blessing when you refrain from doing to to others others what is hateful to to you you 4 when you you do not impose upon others others what you you you would not wish imposed on yourself 5 and when you you you share the good news of Chochma/Sophia with those who are ready to hear it it 6
