Bring the working end of the second rope through
the bight, then around the back of the bight and
across the top of the bight. Then bring it
underneath itself and over the other rope, as
shown in the photograph. Tighten by pulling on
both standing parts.
Double Sheet Bend
A REINFORCED VERSION OF THE SHEET BEND THAT
PROVIDES GREATER SECURITY
In uses where the basic sheet bend will tend to slip or
entirely spill, the double sheet bend creates a more secure
knot, even when the ropes are wet and even when the load
is heavy. This is especially true when the ropes are of
unequal diameter. Due to its greater security, the double
sheet bend sees frequent use on boats and ships as well as
in camp.
