 What We Used to Have
Heather Smith
A bond so strong, cannot be trodden,
But it can be bended, reshaped, or forgotten. A circle that is bound so tight
Can lose its shape and lose its light.
What is a circle, that has become too woven? It becomes a period, that ends all notions.
A perfect ring that was taken with a vow,
Has lost all of its meaning now.
A hunk of metal, and bland string
Has a beginning, but also an ending.
