 The Question at Hand
What if instead of moving forward with “the Christian life” pretending you have it all together, you invite Jesus into your current identity and ask him if there’s anything he’d like to speak to. Allow the kindness of Jesus to speak to places you tried to bury. These very places of false identity and posing become treasures in a sandbox for both you and Jesus to dig up, honor, mourn, and celebrate. To honor and mourn the terrors of the day and the arrows that fly by night (Psalm 91) and also to celebrate this new life Jesus is offering us each and every day. “Acknowledge His works, and He shows you His personality. Learn His personality, and He shows you His presence. See His presence, and He shows you His face. Not a generic face, but one, with dark hair, and eyes so deeply brown they seem black”. ―Blaine Eldredge
So, does God work in the trades? I don’t think that’s a question I can answer for everybody reading. I do however know that I clocked into work one day as someone who lived off self-effort and clocked out that same day as a son. He is, however, the son of a carpenter after all.
