Our Unique Process
Integrating Raw Feeding and Science
What is Fermentation?
Fermentation is the chemical breakdown of a substance by
bacteria or yeast. It has been used for thousands of years to
preserve food and provide health benefits to the body. Typically,
when people think of fermentation, they think of the use of alcohol
or kombucha. However, here at Answers, we have combined the ancient
art of fermentation with modern science, and our unique process to bring the
nutritional benefits of fermentation to your pet’s digestive system.
Why Fermentation?
Answers’ number one priority is pet health. Giving pets natural food in a natural way is the best
option for them. With fermenting our food we are able to accomplish two things. First, we are
creating a low risk raw diet in a natural way. We do not have to use hard processing techniques
to keep bacterial count low. Second, we are giving pets what they need for a happy and healthy
stomach with the high probiotic count in our food.
How digestion works:
A pet’s stomach is naturally acidic, meaning that bacteria in the stomach produces a low Ph and
can destroy pathogenic bacteria naturally. This is how the body digests foods and turns it into
energy. When a stomach consumes fermented food, the good bacteria in the food feed the good
bacteria in the stomach allowing the stomach to thrive. When the stomach thrives, the body will
naturally have more energy to take care of itself. This means that the immune system will be
stronger, allowing it to fight off potential diseases better. The cells in the body regenerate
properly, and inflammation subsides because of the proper balance of good bacteria in the gut.
When your pet does not get enough nutrients in its food:
When the gut does not have enough prebiotics or probiotics, and it becomes accustomed to
eating unhealthy “junk food”, your pet’s stomach has trouble digesting food and converting that
food into energy. When the body struggles to digest food, stress increases within the body,
compromising the immune system and increasing inflammation. The body must work twice as
hard to digest and absorb the nutrients necessary to optimally function. This can lead to severe
diseases such as terminal illness and fatal diseases (kidney disease, heart disease, IBS, and
cancer). When you feed your pets properly, you give them the healthiest options in both the short
term and long term!
