Teachers assist to ensure an accurate record is available as students may come in late
and class by class registers are important to ensure accuracy.
The attendance tracker is linked to an individual student file and if it is inaccurate or
not updated it can cause issues for the report card attendance % and for
parent/Social Worker/teacher meetings.
Evidence is vital when meeting with parents in relation to students' issues and
concerns. For a meeting with a parent the following should be available:
• • A current, brief evaluation of the students progress
• The students submission of work record
• The student’s attendance record
• • Evidence of warning and information texts sent to the parent from the teachers
in line with policy. If a student is not submitting work - parents are informed by the
teacher 2 times before the matter is brought to the SW for follow up with the parents.
If a student is not attending as per requirements the Form/Homeroom teacher must
inform the Reception of the absence after 2 days missed. If this is a persistent absence
the SW is infomred and speaks to the parents to remedy the issue. (persistent
absence is more than 2 days on more than 2 occasions without being informed by the
parents for the reason for absence) Form Teachers and SW should be in

communication in relation to absent notes and emails from parents to ensure a
