Parents of Children in FS2 will be given a link to take home from the Oxford Reading Tree scheme
early in Term 1. Our literacy lessons are based around a theme using a book, story, song, poem or

nursery rhyme. Over a week or more children will foucs on the Essential Questions linked to the Early
Years Foundation Stage by introducing vocabulary using a book/poem or text. Children will discuss

questions built into the topics by thinking and expressing their opinions, drawing, speaking, role
playing, imagining, creating to understand ideas and make comparisons and then work towards

representing their thinking by producing their own piece of writing (FS2) or mark making (FSL-FS1).
We call this a `Reading into Writing Model'. Children will also practise their speaking and listening
          We
skills as singing, choral reading, chanting and drama activities are included in the units of work.
These skills are reinforced through drama and at Small World Play, by our specialist teacher.
