2015 JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP PROGRAM
ELIGIBILITY: The showmanship program is open to anyone interested in showing Percheron horses at designation fairs. Must be:
Between the ages of 7 and 18 years old as of January 1st of the current year.
Be a PAID member of the Ontario Percheron Horse Association Inc. (OPHA $10.00 Junior
Membership fee), Points accumulate once Junior Membership fee is paid or renewed.
CLASSES: JUNIOR - age 7 to 13 years old SENIOR – age 14 to 18 years old
Some fairs will show all classes together but points will be awarded to each age category.
PARTICIPATING FAIRS/SHOWS: Designated fairs are selected to participate in the Junior Showmanship Program each year at the annual meeting in February. All prize money (excluding the year-end points awards) will be paid to the exhibitors directly by the fair. The exhibitors may show at as many shows as they wish. However, ONLY the six best scores will count towards the year-end points awards. You may show any Percheron horse. The entry does not have to be owned by you. Please note that some shows offer Junior Showmanship classes but are not on our selected list of fairs and therefore, do not count towards the points awarded at year-end.

AWARDS: Awards are presented at the Annual Banquet and Dance held in February. Awards are presented in the following categories:
Champion Junior Showperson Champion Senior Showperson Cart Class
Team Driving Class English Riding and Western Riding
JEFF HODGSON MEMORIAL DIRECTOR’S AWARD: The Jeff Hodgson Memorial Director’s Award was created in 2003. This award is awarded to a Junior member of The Ontario Percheron Horse Association (one in each category: Junior and Senior) who is selected by the Ontario Percheron Horse Association Inc. Directors. A Junior Association member can only win this award once. Award is given based on the Junior for the Directors feel best exemplifies the following qualities.
A willingness to try their best both in the show ring and out A willingness to pitch in and help other when a need arises Good Sportsmanship
And always striving to improve their horsemanship skills
