The Tent is repaired, the trailer is washed, the Team is rested ready to go, and the inventory is renewed.
Another Horse Show, Sales, Draft Horse Event Season is upon us. The opportunity of promoting our
Percheron Breed to Members and prospective Members is before us.
This year we are able to introduce both Tough Duck and Dickies Casual & Work Wear Apparel. This change
was extremely well received at Carson’s Spring Draft Horse Sale. OPHA traditional clothing items are still
available although some items maybe in limited quantity or style. Judy & Ellen have done a remarkable job of
organizing the items for the Promotional Booth/Tent. Please check it out and speak with them. Last season
we did a number of custom items to assist Members in those ONE OF A KIND type of special requests.
2015 Schedule
June 26 and 27 First Start Acres Production Sale, Milverton: We are looking forward to the
opportunity of attending the First Start Acres Production Sale. Thank you to Eli Ebersol and family for this
opportunity for the OPHA to be present and represent the Percheron breed at a major North American
Percheron sale.
August 1 and 2 Essa Canadian National Draft Horse Exhibition, Ivy: Once we have had a quick break
from the First Start Acres Sale and a chance to complete haying, the Team is off to the 2nd Essa Canadian
National Draft Horse Exhibition. This new show has provided an excellent venue to promote our breed at a
stand-alone draft horse event. It represents a completely new market that has given us exposure for our
breed. This Show had huge crowds in attendance last year to see the Heavy Horses and it is expected further
growth in numbers this year. The event is one of very few where we are offered the opportunity to be able to
fully expose the full line of Promotional Items available (because there is no space limitation), thus offering
you our members unlimited access . We encourage you to attend .We would like to thank the organizers of
this show for providing an outstanding set up for all the Draft Breeds to be present and represent each of the
Draft Breeds. Thank You Essa.
August 7 and 8 Navan Fair, Navan (Ottawa): With just a few days break we then off to Navan Fair. As in
previous years we will be set up in the lobby of arena during the Draft Horse Hitch Classes. We look forward
to seeing all our Eastern Ontario Members and friends of the Percheron breed. Thank you so very much
Navan Fair - you have always been an outstanding host and we wish to thank you for the flexibility in arrival
arrangements for this year, you will never know how helpful it is to be one less day on the road away.
September 25, 26 and 27 Carp Fair, Carp (Ottawa): The clear crisp air of a fall day in Carp Ontario @
Carp Fair! Again our thanks to our host. We are always so well received and looked after in Eastern Ontario.
We will be set up with the tent in our usual location beside the Sr. Citizen Building on Friday, Saturday and
Sunday. Carp Fair is always well attended for Draft Horse Show enthusiasts and provides our Team another
opportunity to service our Eastern Ontario Members.
Thanksgiving Weekend offers Two Outstanding Events to Visit the Team & Booth/Tent
October 12 Rockton Worlds Fair, Rockton: With one day off for Family thanksgiving Sunday, we will be at www.ontariopercherons.ca Percheron Post, June 2015 40
October 9 and 10 Norfolk County Fair, Simcoe: Friday and Saturday the tents will be located directly
beside the show ring on the grass. This offers easy access to you and the opportunity for the Team to enjoy
the show as well. We have a long history with this Fair and we want to thank them for how well we have
been treated over the years and for the opportunity to service our members in South Western Ontario.
