LAKE NOKOMIS The largest lake in the Tomahawk area, located in Lincoln & Oneida Counties. It’s 2,433 acres created by the Rice Flowage, with a max depth of 33 feet. Nokomis is a beautiful & productive fish lake & great place to boat & spot majestic bald eagles! Known for bluegill, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, muskellunge, northern pike, & walleye.
“Nokomis” was the titular character’s grandmother & “daughter of the moon” in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s famous poem The Song of Hiawatha, itself a retelling of traditional Ojibwe stories.
Lake Nokomis is crossed with miles of groomed snowmobile trails, has many roads open to ATV/UTVs, and features plenty of lakeside resorts, restaurants, & fuel. Spend the day fishing quiet inlets, or head out into the open to tow a tube or waterski. Relax for the spectacular sunsets & catch an equally gorgeous sunrise while serenaded by Loon song.
Access Lake Nokomis by three public boat landings: off County Road N, off Nokomis Drive, & off Point O’ Pines Road.
