Española – San Cristobal

After breakfast this morning we are first to disembark for a dry landing at Suarez Point on Española
Island, the island is one of the most important sites for bird watching. We cross the inactive lava
terrain, and after a short trek encounter colonies of masked and blue-footed boobies whose nesting
grounds overlap the trail. Then we reach the world’s largest colony of waved albatross. We visit the
blowhole which shoots water 20 metres into the air. We return to our landing site along the top of
the cliffs which gives us good panoramic views of the Island.
In the afternoon we cruise to San Cristobal Island to visit the Giant Tortoise breeding centre and
learn about the National Park’s program for the giant tortoises. Very boring we have an hour and a
half wait for zodiac return to ship - hot, dry and dirty town with more sea lions in the streets than
         people.
