Friday 24th of August
Today is our last day in Shanghai,
but before we go to the dock to board
the Majestic Princess we have a ride
in the Shanghai transrapid which is a
magnetic levitation train (maglev).
The ride is 30 km long and takes 8
minutes, the train reaches a speed of
431 km/h. As we travel along we
pass a training going the opposite
direction, all we get is a “Whoosh” as
it passes.
After our train ride we have a visit to
a silk Museum - the silk Museum is
an educational journey through the
production of silk one of China’s
most famous and luxurious
materials. We learnt about the use of
silkworms and silk moths in its
production; the manufacturing
process; as well as silk’s journey
along the silk Road, which bought
this production across Asia and
Europe
