passage of what constitutes a tithe or tenth? That is because tithing is an administrative matter that was to be regulated by the Levitical priesthood in Old Testament times – but is now to be administered by the Melchizedek priesthood, the true ministers of Jesus Christ (see Hebrews 7:5-9, 12)!
A careful study of Hebrews 7 reveals that the responsibility for administering the tithes is now in the hands of God's faithful ministers, who are of the Melchizedek priesthood. This means that God's true ministers today are authorized to determine what is to be tithed on and what is exempt based upon the principles and guidelines given in God's Word. At this point and time in history, then, it is determined that one ought to tithe on the net or disposable income – that amount which remains after taxes and other involuntary deductions.
