KNOWN OR SUSPECTED MEDICAL CONDITIONS
If a child suffers with any symptoms associated with Asthma or Anaphylaxis, it is a requirement that an appropriate ‘Action Plan’ is completed by the child’s doctor and provided to the service for our records and execution, should this be necessary during the child’s time in our care. The required forms are available at the service upon request.
Any other medical condition, allergies to food or otherwise should also be disclosed as part of the child’s enrolment form. This will ensure we can cater to the child’s individual needs, particularly with regards to menu planning. For this reason, Discover My World prohibits families from bringing food into the service, with the exception of fresh fruit. If there are any changes to your child’s medical condition, please update Discover My World as soon as possible via email: enquiries@discovermyworld.com.au
If you suspect a medical condition or allergy and are unsure, please discuss with the room leader or director/supervisor so we can work with you to take action if this is deemed appropriate. We also recommend you seek medical advice as soon as possible.
If your child has an allergy or asthma and medication has to be kept at the service, it will be stored safely in the designated First Aid cupboard in your child’s classroom. This includes EpiPens.
If it is being taken home on a daily basis, parents are to ensure it is returned to care each day their child is at DMW.
