Your problem is that you and your wife already booked a
vacation but your boss asked you to change your vacation
date to a week later, you wanted to tell your boss that you
cannot cancel and that you don't want to give him an
impression that this vacation is more important than
your job.
I suggest that you call your boss right away and be honest
to him.
Tell him that you and your wife had planned forth is
vacation and everything else is arranged, your boss will
surely understand and admire your honesty.
