The above graph shows the share of forest area in total
land area by region in 1990 and 2019. ① Africa’s share of
forest area in total land area was over 20% in both 1990
and 2019. ② The share of forest area in America was
42.6% in 1990, which was larger than that in 2019. ③ The
share of forest area in Asia declined from 1990 to 2019 by
more than 10 percentage points. ④ In 2019, the share of
forest area in Europe was the largest among the five
regions, more than three times that in Asia in the same
year. ⑤ Oceania showed the smallest gap between 1990
and 2019 in terms of the share of forest area in total land
area.
