Amazing Inventions
1 It starts with an “Aha!” moment. An inventor has a brilliant idea.
Then he or she creates something that never existed before. An
invention can be a device, a process, or a discovery. Often it solves a
problem and makes life easier. Sometimes it just makes life more fun.
2 During the 20th century (1900–1999), inventors were bursting
with original ideas. Many of their inventions are part of daily life today.
The timeline on the next page shows some of the 20th century’s most
memorable inventions.
