25 Kitoto stared in amazement as the figure bowed.

26 “I am Kigego, the mountain mouse. Welcome to my home.”

27 “Your home? You built all this?” Kitoto asked. “The paths, the
                                                  tunnels . . . everything?”

28 “Everything,” replied Kigego. “With nothing more than my teeth
and a lot of hard work.” Her eyes glowed proudly. “Come.”

29 Like old friends, the two mice explored the winding pathways.

30 They enjoyed a game of hide and seek in the mazes.

31 They played catch with shiny pebbles.

32 Then they fell asleep on cushions of soft earth.

33 When they awoke, Kigego unearthed a sumptuous
hoard of bulbs, tubers, and roots. ‘’I’ll teach you the secrets of the
                                                  ground,” she promised, chuckling.

34 Kitoto chuckled back and said, “And I will teach you the secrets of
                                                  the Savannah.”

sumptuous Something that is sumptuous is impressive and expensive-looking.
hoard A hoard is a group of valuable things that is usually kept secret and
                                                   carefully guarded by someone.
