Focus What made Susan B. Anthony interested in women’s rights? What

did she do for women’s rights?

e.g. She was treated more poorly than men when she was a

teacher. She thought this was unfair. She tried to influence the

government to pass laws that gave more power to women.

Susan Brownell Anthony was born on February 15, 1820,

in Massachusetts. Back then, men were generally considered

smarter and more important than women. Susan’s father,

however, treated women and men as equals.
