Lesson 12
Evolutionism Versus Creationism
Speaker A: Hard evidence from archeology and paleontology points to undeniable conclu-
sion that the human specie is a product of evolution, not creation. Man developed into who he is now
over billions of years of evolution, and not in a single moment of creation by God. It’s just a matter
of time before scientists would unearth the final pieces of the jigsaw puzzle of the origin of man. No-
where is God’s hand found in evolution,
it’s a cold relentless process of organisms struggling for survival against an uncaring, insensible
mother nature. Throw in randomness of purpose and chance mutations and you have the origins of
man. I can’t see why
you chose to ignore verifiable scientific facts for airy fairy tales about divine creation!
Speaker B: I neither ignore scientific facts, nor do I discount evolution. I just think that evolu-
tion is a theory that limps as badly as a one legged primate: paleontology and archeology can’t ex-
plain the sudden spurts of life in some archeological periods. The thesis of evolution is that humans
developed slowly and gradually over a span of 3 billion years, from a brute to a homo sapiens. But
recent archeological finding indicate that there is no such ordered development: in the cretaceous
period, new life forms suddenly came into being. Nowhere do these beings have a link to the previ-
ous periods- as if they were created only at the cretaceous
period. This is evidence of Divine Creation.
Speaker A: Your argument is flawed: the absence of evidence isn’t evidence of absence. Just
because scientist can’t find evidence that the primates from the cretaceous period have ancestral
links to the previous period doesn’t mean that these ancestral links do not exist. It just means that
scientist haven’t yet unearthed the links. Further diggings would surely produce the fossils that would
fit the missing links.
Speaker B: Maybe so, but until that time comes, the creationism theory has as much validity
and strengths as your Darwinism theory, so don’t you ignore creationism as some airy fairy fantasy.
Evolution suffers from lack of evidence, thus it’s also a fairy tale (an ugly one at that). Now let me
argue for creationism from a logical standpoint: even if the evolutionism is true, it can’t disprove
my argument that God created man. In fact, it supports it: God created man through evolution. Let
me state my full argument: It’s either that God created man in a single moment, or He created man
through evolution.
Speaker A: This is nonsense!
