Kick the Ball! Forces at Play How much is the net force when the
forces are balanced?
When the forces are balanced, they
can cancel each other out, and thus,

The ball stops moving because two
forces of the same strength are acting in
opposite directions.
Sometimes the different forces acting on a ball are
balanced. Balanced forces are those that are the same
strength but act in opposite directions. Balanced forces
do not cause changes in a ball’s motion. Balanced forces
can cancel each other out, and thus, the net force is zero.
