Ed Bangs tried to reintroduce wolves to some national parks in the U.S. He wanted to
keep the wolves from becoming extinct . First, Ed published a report that dealt with
possible problems with reintroducing the wolves. For example, they might leave the parks .
and kill ranchers’ livestock. Then, he found wolves to put into Wyoming and Idaho. He used
soft release for some wolves and hard release for other wolves. In 2002, there
were 560 wolves. Now, elk and deer herds are not too big, and aspen and willow trees are
