The Taj Mahal: A Monument of Love
The Mughals were at the peak of their power and wealth
during Shah Jahan’s reign. However, Shah Jahan could do
nothing to stop his wife’s death during childbirth in 1631.
Shah Jahan was heartbroken over the death of his wife.
According to legend, she made him promise to build a rich
mausoleum as her grave. He wanted to build a tomb for
her more beautiful than anything ever created. He wanted
nothing less than paradise on Earth.
