                                      PROMPT


                                     In Explore the Wild West!, you learned about the experiences of families who traveled
                                    westward by wagon train in the 1800s. Families making this journey experienced many

                                    hardships and had to be prepared for many difficult days of travel.

                                    Create a how-to guide for westward-bound pioneers. Start with an introduction. Then
                                    add a paragraph on one of the following: preparing for the trip, including a list of
                                    important items to pack, or life on the trail, including possible dangers. End with a

                                    conclusion that summarizes the important points you’ve made. Use specific evidence
                                    from the text to give detailed information to your readers. Be sure that each paragraph
                                    of your writing includes a central, or main, idea.  Don’t forget to use some of the Critical
                                    Vocabulary words in your writing.
