Evidence Write an Advertising Script
PROMPT
In Potatoes on Rooftops, you learned about urban gardening and how people can use
their available space to make gardening possible, even in the city.
Imagine that your job is to persuade people to start a community garden in your town or
city. Write a script for a radio or TV ad that tells would-be gardeners why gardening is
good for them and the community. Introduce your topic with a strong “hook” that gets
your viewer’s or listener’s attention. Then clearly state your opinion, supporting it with
reasons and details based on text evidence. Conclude with a memorable statement or
slogan. Don’t forget to use some of the Critical Vocabulary words in your writing.
