PROMPT

Parrots Over Puerto Rico describes the plight of parrots living in this region. It also
explains scientists’ efforts to save endangered parrots through the Puerto Rican Parrot

Recovery Program.

Imagine that the Puerto Rican Parrot Recovery Program has set up a webcam to stream
live video of the Luquillo Aviary in El Yunque. The webcam allows viewers to watch as
eggs hatch and chicks learn to fly. Write a summary for the homepage of the Puerto

Rican Parrot Recovery’s website. Begin your summary by telling the purpose of the
webcam and informing viewers about the program’s goals. Then recount the events
leading up to the endangerment of the parrots. Explain when and why the program
started. Discuss the effects the program has had on the lives of the parrots. Make sure
