Evidence Write a Friendly Letter
PROMPT
In Dear Primo, two cousins write letters to each other and share stories
about their lives. Carlitos lives in Mexico, and his cousin Charlie lives in
America.
Imagine that you are participating in a pen pal program. Write a letter to
either Carlitos or Charlie. Compare your life to his, telling him the ways in
which your lives are the same and the ways in which your lives are
different. Try to use some of the Critical Vocabulary words in your writing.
PLAN
Use a two-column chart to compare and contrast your life to one of
the characters in the text. Use one column to make notes about
similarities and the other to make notes about differences. Be sure
to consider how the settings in which you live are similar and
different.
