                                      PROMPT

The poems in Adventures with Words follow different rhyme patterns, are
written by different poets, and are different lengths. However, they have

one thing in common: they all celebrate words.

Now it is your turn! Write your own poem that tells which of the poems

you like best. Are you interested in one poem’s message? Is it the rhyming
pattern you like, or maybe the fact that the poem does not rhyme? Are the

word choices appealing to you? Consider these questions as you plan and
                                    write your poem.

                                        PLAN

Write three reasons to explain why the poem you chose is your

favorite. Be sure to include elements of poetry, such as rhyming
patterns, sound elements, word choice, or structure. Make a list of

phrases or words from the poem that you want to talk about in
                                    your own poem.
