HELLO & WELCOME

Message from the Chairman

The Gala Dinner month arrived in a hurry, and just as fast, it is over. A bit like
the UK summer, a few days burst of sunshine, and now those days are only a
memory.

The Gala dinner was special this year, having the current Lord Mayor host us,

and the current Sheriff, who in 2029 (all being well) will be the first South African
Lord Mayor.

The Lord Mayor characterised the evening as formal but warm and friendly. The
warm gold glow of the Egyptian Hall added to the atmosphere of friendship and
camaraderie.

The month was also filled with planning for events in July and October, being part

of the 30th year anniversary of the SA democracy.

July has the Westminster Abbey SA Commemoration as the highlight. August is

our rejuvenation month with National Women's Day being our main focus as we
plan for the September Drinks evening and many more events that fall into the

fourth quarter.

I wish you (hopefully) a warm July in the UK.
