SOUTH AFRICA : A
WINNING SPIRIT
Celebrating achievements on the sports field, in the workplace and in
life in general is always hugely motivational and lifts one’s aspirations to
new heights to dream of what is possible.
As such, we are delighted to join the many thousands of supporters and congratulate the
Springboks on winning the World Rugby Cup. Taking home the Webb Ellis trophy after a
very edgy 12-11 victory over New Zealand, was a win not only for the team but for all
South Africans.
“I believe we are a purpose-driven team, we’re
not a trophy-driven team,” Springbok Captain
Siya Kolisi said before the semi-final victory
against England.
We congratulate the South African men’s and
women’s hockey teams for securing their place
in the Paris 2024 Olympics. The women’s team
were the first to qualify after beating Nigeria 9-0
during the African Hockey Road to Paris 2024
tournament. The men’s team faced Egypt in the
finals and came away with a narrow 2-1 win.
We also are proud of the Protea team from
South Africa who recently participated in the Photo credit SA Government
Golden Shears 2023 World Sheep Shearing
Championships – the ‘Olympics’ of shearing and
wool handling. Blade shearers Zwelamakhosi
Mbuweni and Bonile Rabelaas were awarded
first and second place respectively in the
individual category while the whole team won
the prize for the best hand shearing team.
We invited comments on the World Rugby
Cup from two of our board members and of
course there are Lessons in Business and Life
– see below.
