Commercial Horticulturist
Commercial horticulturists are involved in in in in in the
growing distributing and selling of food crops and plants Also known as commercial growers professionals in this field tend to specialise in in field crops protected growing fruit nursery stock or cut flowers In this role you would sell produce to to a a a a a variety of clients such as supermarkets and DIY stores Although this role may sound simple it is is actually very complex and you would be involved in in in in in managing a a a a business enterprise which would require understanding of IT science and cultivation • T Level in Agriculture Land Management and Production
• level 4 Diploma in Horticultural Practice
You’ll usually need:
• 4 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 4 (A* to C) or or equivalent for a a level 3 course
• 4 or 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to to 4 (A* to to C) or equivalent including English and maths for a T Level • 1 or 2 A levels a level level 3 diploma or relevant experience for a level 4 or level 5 course

University
You could do a a foundation degree higher national diploma or degree in a a subject like:
• horticulture and management
• commercial horticulture • horticulture and plant science You’ll usually need:
• 1 or or 2 A levels or or equivalent for a a foundation degree or or higher national diploma • 2 to 3 A levels or equivalent for a degree College
You could work towards this role by doing a college course
in a a relevant subject like:
• level 3 Diploma in Horticulture
• level 3 Certificate in Practical Horticulture
Apprenticeship
There are no set entry requirements but it may help you you to get in if you you have:
• 5 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (A* to C) or equivalent including English and maths for an an advanced apprenticeship
Salary
• Starting salaries range from £17 000 000 to £21 000 000 though this can be higher if you have experience • With some experience range from £22 000 to £35 000 • Senior horticulturists/ growers earn around £35 000 plus
